This holiday inspired arrangement is a fabulous way to bring live evergreens into your home for the season. You’ll be given all the materials you need to make your own, with tips from professional designers on how to add your own flair and keep them looking beautiful all season long!

This is out second workshop with the new Drifters on Owasco venue, so we’re particularly excited to be working with them! Come out early or stay late for dinner!

About the Instructor

Kalee

Kalee Doeing is a local artist who has recently fallen in love with plants.  She LOVES teaching about DIY gardening crafts.  Kalee grew up in rural Pennsylvania.  She fostered her love of art through grade school and even has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in Ceramic Arts from Wells College, Aurora NY.  Her art has driven her to travel to interesting places like Alaska and Florence.

Her hobbies include hiking, acrylic and watercolor painting, pottery, travel, and spending quality time with her two wonderful kids Savannah and Cole and their dog Rosie.

One day, Kalee hopes to have her own ceramics studio to make her ceramic creations. For now, she just wants to share her passion for art and plants with others!

Event Details

Join us for the second part of our First Ever Holiday Extravaganza at The Danby Gathery!  Show us your Holiday Spirit by decorating your very own fresh evergreen wreath with shiny, winter-inspired additions. Decorate your front door for the Holidays in awesome DIY style!  (If you want to join us for first part – a holiday centerpiece, you can just add that when you checkout, for an additional $25, which is a $10 discount from a regular class!)

  • All materials will be included (craft supplies, fresh greens, decor stems, etc.)
  • Aprons & gloves provided
  • Please arrive 15 min early to allow time to get settled & get drinks

This venue does NOT have a bar, so please Bring Your Own Beverage. We will have hot cider, kettle corn and other light snacks. Please drink responsibly.

Also, we want to see your silly and crafty Holiday Spirits by wearing your favorite Holiday Sweater during the Workshop! The winner will be revealed at the end of the event and will receive a Wine & Blooms Gift Certificate!

Break out your winter scarves and sweaters! Wine & Blooms is joining forces with the beautiful Danby Gathery to host our first Holiday Workshop Extravaganza! Join us in creating not one, but TWO fresh, evergreen projects, a Holiday Centerpiece and a Front Door Wreath!

These would usually be offered as separate classes for $35/each, so you get $10 off just by staying for both classes!

What to Expect

  • All materials will be included (grapevine wreath base, fresh greens, candle, centerpiece dish, decor items, ribbon etc.)

Armed with these skills, you will then be able to walk through the nursery and select plants to install in your very own pot to take home and enjoy all season long!

  • All materials will be included (14″ planter, potting soil, 4.5″ annuals, etc.)
  • Aprons & gloves provided
  • Please arrive 15 min early to allow time to get settled

Leigh McGonagle is the owner of Poplar Point Studio – a local fine gardening company that focuses on garden design, installation and maintenance. Her favorite thing about gardening is the satisfaction of creating beautiful living art (and the instant gratification of cleaning up garden areas!).  She has been in the industry for over 10 years and loves sharing her knowledge of plants & problem solving in the garden.

She spends her free time reading, taking pictures of flowers, performing with local music gigs and traveling.

Come learn the history and art behind Bonsai as well as make your own to take home!

Event Details

Lee Ginenthal is an expert horticulturalist who specializes in Rose propagation, care & pruning as well as Bonsai. We are partnering with Cornell Botanic garden, who has a fantastic collection of gardens to see as well. This class will cover the history of bonsai as an art form, as well as how to start your own bonsai. All materials included, except custom bonsai pots which will be available for purchase on-site.

What to Expect

  • All materials will be included (juniper shrub)
  • Aprons, gloves & pruners provided
  • Please arrive 15 min early to allow time to get settled
  • There will be a vendor on-site selling bonsai pots & paraphernalia

Other Considerations

This venue is a Botanic Garden, we encourage you to bring your camera and walking shoes and take a tour of the beautiful gardens. Parking is FREE on the weekends.

Cayuga Landscape Co. is also hosting a Pop-Up Shop at this event and will have bonsai related materials for sale including bonsai pots, pruners & great plants that are ready for you to make beautiful bonsai art with!

About the Instructor

Lee

Lee Ginenthal, a retired teacher, is the owner of Der Rosenmeister Nursery, a small, family owned nursery specializing in cold hardy, disease resistant, antique and modern roses. He consults, designs, and installs gardens and hardscapes, leads workshops and lectures on all aspects of rose growing and garden design.

Lee has been an avid gardener for over 50 years. His horticultural expertise goes beyond roses and includes bonsai, ornamental (perennial, woody, native plants), edible gardening, sustainable gardening practices, and sacred geometry in the gardenscape (labyrinths and Fibonacci spirals).

Lee volunteers with local schools and youth programs to help make sustainable gardens that engage young people. He loves spending time with his wife, son & grandson!
